Mission and Principles

About us

The public organization "Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care" (hereinafter - the League) was established on December 17, 2010. The first initiative meeting regarding the creation of the organization took place in November 2010 in the city of Ternopil as part of the seminar "Opening a hospice in Ternopil. Possibilities and prospects". The participants of the seminar decided to initiate the creation of an organization that would unite a wide range of interested people - medical workers, public figures, scientists, representatives of the clergy, volunteers and patrons to promote the development of palliative care in Ukraine.

Mission and principles

Our goal is to contribute to the development of the palliative care system in Ukraine, which will provide professional care and support to the terminally ill who need it regardless of their age, gender, religion or location.

Members of our organization, regional organizations of the League work to ensure the right of every terminally ill person to effective pain relief and treatment, psychological and moral support, spiritual support and respect. After all, we understand: only by creating a proper system of palliative care, Ukraine will become one step closer to European living standards.

An important direction of the League's activity is the provision of adequate psychological, spiritual and ethical support for palliative patients and their family members, the consolidation of the efforts of Ukrainian Churches and clergy, regardless of denomination, to provide spiritual care for palliative patients and their relatives, as well as the affirmation of spirituality and charity among all Ukrainians society.
