Seminar "Development of the volunteer movement in palliative care in Transcarpathia"

On April 11-12, 2013, as part of the cross-border cooperation program "HUSCROUA/1001" on the initiative of the Uzhgorod Rotary Club and with the support of the Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care, the Department of Palliative and Hospice Medicine of the National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named after P.L. Shupyk, the international scientific and practical conference "Directions, problems and prospects of the development of palliative and hospice care for the population of Zakarpattia region" and the seminar "Development of the volunteer movement in palliative care in Transcarpathia" were held in the city of Uzhhorod.

The participants of the conference and seminar were representatives of the Rotary Clubs of Uzhgorod, Satu Mare (Romania) and Rozhnava (Slovakia), the management of the Department of Health Protection of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration and the districts of Zakarpattia, clergy, scientists, doctors, representatives of the NGO "Ukrainian League of Assistance development of palliative and hospice care" and public organizations of the region.

The experience of providing palliative care in Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine was presented at the conference. As part of the seminar, master classes and trainings were held for volunteer leaders, which were conducted by the candidate of psychological sciences, assistant of the department of social assistance, general and medical psychology of the Odessa National Medical University, head of the NGO "For Life" (Odesa) - Yu.P. Shupyk National Academy of Medical Sciences, Candidate of Medical Sciences; L. P. Bratsiun, Executive Director of the League, assistant of the department of palliative and hospice medicine of the P. L. Shupyk National Academy of Medical Sciences. Numerous questions to the participants of the conference and seminar, discussion and discussion testified to the great relevance of the problem of the development of palliative and hospice care throughout Europe. Agreements were reached on the exchange of specialists to study the experience of our countries.
