Vasyl Knyazevich: Social and psychological rehabilitation is a problem that must be solved not only by doctors, but also by teachers, psychologists, and social services

Socio-psychological rehabilitation is a problem that must be solved not only by medicine, but also by other state institutions of power. This was stated by the head of the Department of Public Health Management of the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine, Vasyl Knyazevich, during the "round table" on the topic "State Strategy of Social and Psychological Adaptation of the Population of Ukraine".

At the same time, the leading role in this matter should be played by the state administration of public health protection, where the following priority tasks appear on the agenda:

• formation of an information field regarding challenges to the social and psychological health of the population in modern conditions;
• creation of a state strategy for overcoming socio-psychological challenges;
• well-founded introduction into the practice of state administration and local self-government of applied modern technologies and methods of socio-psychological adaptation of the population, tested by world practice;
• establishment of training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel competent in the implementation of the strategy of socio-psychological rehabilitation of the population, etc.

During the meeting, experts named a range of social and psychological challenges that Ukraine has faced recently. Among them: symptoms of adaptation neurosis, the signs of which are fear, uncertainty about tomorrow, lack of faith in the future. The dominance over many years of such psychological characteristics as mental tension, discomfort, depression, social pessimism, disappointment in the existing system of state power and its leaders is confirmed by life itself and numerous sociological studies.

No less threatening is the accumulation and dominance over many years of negative psychological characteristics, discomfort and depression of the population, social pessimism, distrust of state administration and local self-government. It is necessary to ensure the state's exit to the path of sustainable development, the development of the democratic foundations of statehood.

Therefore, Ukrainian society faces a clear task of finding approaches and methods that would form ideological and practical cores of transformations and positive changes in society and the state.

The participants of the round table note that the available scientific and personnel potential of the Department of Health Care Management of the National Academy, as the initiator of the event, in cooperation with educational institutions, scientific institutions and representatives of state administration bodies, provides an opportunity to develop not individual steps, but a scientific basis of state strategies of socio-psychological rehabilitation of the country's population.

The result of today's meeting was the decision to create, on the basis of the results of the round table, a coordination center for the entire complex of scientific activities on the formation of a state strategy for social and psychological rehabilitation of the population. It is also planned to establish cooperation with public organizations on problems that are within the competence of the state strategy for social and psychological rehabilitation of the population. In the near future, an interdepartmental working group will also be formed to work out the proposals of the round table in order to support the development of the state strategy for social and psychological adaptation of the population of Ukraine.
