Course "Suffering, Death, Palliative Care", Netherlands

On February 10-13, 2015, the 17th course "Suffering, Death, Palliative Care" will be held in the city of Nijmegen, the Netherlands

The purpose of the course is to teach participants a number of ethical issues related to death and dying, suffering, palliative care and euthanasia. Medical, philosophical, theological and ethical foundations of these concepts will be considered. Specialists will make presentations on various topics in the field of palliative care: autonomy and dependence; scientific research in the field of palliative care; palliative sedation and euthanasia; death, suffering and palliative care; quality of life and a good death; spirituality and cultural aspects of death and dying. An important lecture will be delivered by Sheila Payne, President of the European Association of Palliative Care (EAPA), head. Department of Lancaster University (Great Britain).

This course is designed for participants from a variety of professional fields such as nursing, medicine, health management, ethics, philosophy, theology and pastoral care, and postgraduate students studying in these fields. The language of the course is English. The cost of the course: € 690, – early registration (until December 15, 2014), € 790, – after this date.
