Arnaldo Pangrazzi talked about the spiritual accompaniment of a dying person

What is the component of spiritual support during the care of a dying person, do doctors feel fear when communicating with the terminally ill, how to organize pastoral care in ordinary hospitals and hospices, which are primarily needed by palliative patients - these and other questions became a topic for reflection during lectures by the world-famous professor of the International Theological Institute Camillianum (Rome, Italy) Arnaldo Pangrazzi.

As noted during the meeting, palliative care involves medical, social, psychological and spiritual components. "Unfortunately, we only have first aid and partly second aid. There are attempts to do something in some regions, but there is no national system of palliative care in Ukraine," Vasyl Knyazevich, chairman of the board of the NGO "Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care", emphasized, adding that the state has declared guaranteed palliative care, but everything remains only in words , even pain relief is unfortunately not available.

The public is ready to join and help the state, so it does everything possible to make the aspect of spiritual care heard.

Vasyl Knyazevich informed that on October 26-27, 2018, the III National Congress on palliative and hospice care will be held, where it is planned to make a decision on the cooperation of the "Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care" with professional medical organizations and determine joint actions.

We will remind you that the lecture  " Spiritual Dimension in the Holistic Treatment of the Dying Person" for the clergy, doctors of palliative care departments, and psychologists was held under the auspices of the NGO "Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care", the School of Bioethics of the Ukrainian Catholic University and the National Pedagogical University named after M.P. Drahomanova.
