Recommendations on priority steps in the field of palliative care have been prepared for the Ministry of Health and the Government

To introduce palliative and hospice care programs for students of medical schools, to approve the relevant specialization "Palliative and hospice medicine" among the available medical specialties, to place a special emphasis on additional training of primary care doctors - these and other recommendations were determined during the meeting of the Board of the NGO "Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative Care" and hospice care".

As the participants of the event noted, the personnel issue and the problem of analgesia are of primary importance for their solution at the state level, therefore it was decided to turn to the Ministry of Health and the Government with proposals on ways to solve them. 

According to Vasyl Knyazevich, chairman of the board of the "League", the role of public organizations has now changed significantly. "The role of our organization takes on a different meaning after the adoption of the law on new principles of health care financing. It is good that the idea that we promoted since 2010 about free palliative care was reflected in the law and can be implemented," the chairman of the board emphasized. He appealed to the heads of regional centers and urged them to more actively join the joint work with the relevant ministry and local authorities, to exert public pressure in order to achieve the correct construction of a palliative care system with sufficient funding and on moral and ethical principles.

The representatives of the regions reported on the results of the celebration of the World Day of Hospice and Palliative Care and on the state of development of regional organizations and the system of palliative care in the regions.

We will remind you that on October 26, 2017, a meeting of the Board of the NGO "Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care" was held. The meeting was attended by members of the board and representatives of regional branches of the "League", representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, the Kyiv Regional State Administration, and others.
