A two-day study visit was held in Kropyvnytskyi to study the experience of organizing medical services and palliative care

Last week, a two-day study visit was held in Kropyvnytskyi to study the experience of organizing the provision of medical services and palliative care for a delegation of workers in the field of health care, as part of the national program of exchange visits of the Association of Cities of Ukraine - "Routes of Success".

The Chairman of the Board of the NGO "Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care" Vasyl Knyazevich, members of the Presidium and the Heads of regional organizations of the League joined this project and took part in the events that took place within the framework of the visit.

The study visit was opened in the premises of the city council with the participation of the mayor Andriy Raikovych, the first deputy head of the Kirovohrad State Administration Serhiy Kovalenko, the deputy minister of health Pavlo Kovtonyuk, the chairman of the board of the NGO "Ukrainian league for the development of palliative hospice care" Vasyl Knyazevich, the executive director of the Association of Cities of Ukraine Myroslav Pitsyk, People's Deputies of Ukraine Kostyantyn Yarynych and Oleksandr Gorbunov, Director of the Department of Health Protection of the Kirovohrad State Administration Oleg Rybalchenko and his deputies, Head of the Department of Health Protection of the City Council Oksana Makaruk.

The participants of the event had the opportunity to listen to representatives of the local authorities regarding the development of the system of providing palliative care, to familiarize themselves with the work of the palliative department of the Central City Hospital of Kropyvnytskyi. The delegation also visited the medical institutions of the regional center: the Central City Hospital, the Center for Primary Health Care No. 1, the Kirovohrad Regional Oncology Dispensary.  

At the same time, in the city of Kropovnytskyi under the chairmanship of Antonina Kodrul, the deputy director of the Department of Health and Welfare of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration, the head of the department for maternal and childhood protection, immunoprophylaxis of the Department of Health and Welfare of the Kirovohrad State Government, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the League Raisa Moiseyenko, the director of the Ukrainian Medical Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Organic Damage of the Nervous System of the Ministry of Health Volodymyr Martyniuk of Ukraine and Nadiya Degtyar, chief pediatrician of the Department of Health and Welfare of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration, held a scientific and practical conference on current issues in social pediatrics, hospice and palliative medicine. At the opening of the conference, the Chairman of the Board of the League, Vasyl Knyazevich, in his speech, emphasized the need to reform the provision of medical and palliative care, and also talked about the problems and prospects of the healthcare sector in Ukraine.

Based on the results of the visit, a working group of representatives of the Association of Cities of Ukraine and the NGO "Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care" was created in the city of Kropyvnytskyi to work on the resolution of the event and cooperation in the implementation of palliative care standards in Ukraine.
