According to Vasyl Knyazevich, Chairman of the Board of the NGO "Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care", who visited Ternopil Oblast on a working visit.
Today, March 10, the head of the regional council Viktor Ovcharuk met with Vasyl Knyazevich. Volodymyr Bohaichuk, director of the State Regional Health Department, and Andriy Palamarchuk, chief physician of the anti-tuberculosis hospital in the village of Plotycha, on the basis of which this facility will be established, took part in the conversation about the opening of the first hospice in the region and the development of palliative care. The head of the regional council said that the issue of creating a hospice in the region had been considered for more than seven years, and only now the regional council made a decision to create a hospice on the basis of the Plotychiv anti-tuberculosis hospital. "We need to unite the efforts of public organizations, regional and local authorities to create a modern hospital to provide adequate support to patients who need palliative and hospice care," Viktor Ovcharuk is convinced.
Andriy Palamarchuk informed the audience that reconstruction works are already underway, and the hospice will start working in May, because: "... being left alone with an inevitable disease, a person suffers unspeakably, and his family and friends suffer with him. The hospice will provide medical, social, and psychological assistance."

In addition, as part of the working visit, Vasyl Knyazevich met with teachers and students of the Ternopil State Medical University named after Ivan Gorbachev, visited the Plotychiv anti-tuberculosis hospital, talked with representatives of the clergy, heads of hospitals, preventive institutions, boarding schools, public organizations and social services. All the meetings discussed the unification of all efforts to create highly qualified hospice and palliative care in the region, taking into account all aspects - spiritual, medical, social, material, and involving state, church, and public resources. "If we manage to learn how to provide decent support to people at the end of their life journey, it will change the country and the culture of society as a whole and every citizen," Vasyl Knyazevich is confident.
