The Chairman of the Board of the NGO "Ukrainian League to Promote the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care" visited the city of Lviv on a working visit on November 23-24

The visit began with a coordination meeting with the participation of Vasyl Knyazevich and the first vice-rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University - Taras Dobka, the Director of the School of Bioethics of UCU - Fr. Ihor Boyk, a psychotherapist, co-founder and chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Institute of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy - Oleg Romanchuk, the head doctor of the Hospice in Lviv - Yevhen Moskvyak. During the meeting, issues related to the cooperation of the League and UCU in the development of palliative care, rehabilitation and chaplaincy were discussed.

Vasyl Knyazevich thanked for the invitation to visit the Ukrainian Catholic University, and also noted that UCU is the flagship of science and culture for Ukraine and the issues developed by the University are extremely important and need to be applied throughout Ukraine. The Chairman of the Board of the League wished further prosperity and development for the benefit of our state.

A meeting was held in the premises of the Department of Health of the LODA with representatives of the LODA, the City Council, the medical and social community, the chief freelance specialist of the Department of Health of the LODA for the organization of palliative and hospice care - Yaroslav Chulovskyi, the clergy, deputies of the regional and city councils, heads of local   commissions authorities, intelligentsia.

At the meeting, they discussed the issue of joining efforts and creating a coordination council, which will include representatives of local authorities, clergy, and the public for the effective development of the palliative care system in the city of Lviv and the Lviv region. The Chairman of the Board of the League, Vasyl Knyazevich, also held a lecture at the Ukrainian Catholic University for students and graduates of the certified bioethics program on the topic: "National strategy for the development of palliative care in Ukraine."

Vasyl Knyazevich congratulated the Rector of the Theological Seminary, Director of the UCU School of Bioethics, Fr. Ihor Boyka with the election of the head of the regional organization of the Ukrainian NGO "Ukrainian League for the Promotion of Development of Palliative and Hospice Care" and presented a certificate of appreciation for a significant contribution to the development of the palliative care system in Ukraine. 

On Tuesday, November 24, Vasyl Mykhailovych paid a visit to the Charitable Institution of the Hospital named after A. Sheptytskyi. During the visit, he met with the director of the Hospital Fr. Andrii Login, the employees of the institution and the patients.

The meeting with the Rector of the Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytskyi, academician Borys Semenovych Zimenkovskiy, was productive. There was a discussion of specific cooperation regarding the development of palliative care in Lviv and Ukraine, as well as the issue of creating a department of palliative care. Vasyl Knyazevich also thanked for supporting the idea of ​​creating the Club of Centenarians.

During the visit to the city of Lviv, the Chairman of the Board of the League visited the Communal City Clinical Emergency Medical Hospital. The Chairman of the League Board took part in the opening of the memorial plaque in memory of Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ihor Gerych, a prominent surgeon and public figure. 

During the meeting with the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadov, they discussed the issue of further cooperation on the development of palliative care and rehabilitation in Lviv and support at the national level. Vasyl Knyazevich thanked Andriy Ivanovych for the steps aimed at improving the material base of palliative care departments. Also, during the visit to Lviv, Vasyl Knyazevich and Fr. Ihor Boyko took part in a live broadcast on Lviv television.

Volodymyr Ivanovich Zub, Director of the Department of Health Protection of the Lviv City Council, took part in summing up the trip, who took under his own control the development of palliative care and rehabilitation.
